New paper out!
New publication out on a comparative study of thermomechanical simulation of orthogonal metal cutting with PFEM and SPH.
The thermo-mechanical behavior of Ti-6Al-4V under machining conditions is difficult to model on the cutting scale, irrespective of the choice of the numerical method. In the article published in Materials, Prof. Juan Rodríguez Prieto, Prof. Simon Larsson, and Dr. Mamzi Afrasiabi of AMLZ study the thermo-mechanical behavior of Ti-6Al-4V during machining processes, specifically in the context of orthogonal metal cutting, comparing the predictive capabilities of two numerical methods: Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) and Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH).
