New paper out!
New publication out on thermal error compensation models utilizing the power consumption of machine tools.
Thermal errors of machine tools are a hot problem. Compensation can offer a sustainable and cool solution to your accuracy problems.
In the article published in the 3rd International Conference on Thermal Issues in Machine Tools, Sebastian Lang, Dr. Nico Zimmermann, Dr. Josef Mayr, Prof. Konrad Wegener and Prof. Markus Bambach examine various input sets, including temperature and power measurements to determine their effectiveness in thermal compensation. They compared their ARX based model to state of the art machine learning models showing significant accuracy improvements, specifically reducing the volumetric RMSE by ~72% from 32.75 µm to 9.5 µm.
